He serves as an adjunct clinical professor in dentistry at the Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry, in the Graduate Orthodontic Department at Western University.

Meet Dr. White

Dr. White has been practicing orthodontics for 35 years and general dentistry for five years before that. He chose the oral healthcare field so he could combine his love for science and art. He understands orthodontics requires an appreciation for art and aesthetics and uses his appreciation in every treatment plan he creates.

Dr. White obtained his undergraduate BSc (Hons) in genetics from the University of Guelph and an MSc in microbiology from the University of Waterloo. He received his Doctorate of Dental Surgery from the University of Western Ontario Dental School. After practicing general dentistry for five years, he decided he really wanted to specialize in orthodontics. He was accepted into the Graduate Orthodontic Program at the University of Toronto and received his specialty diploma in orthodontics in 1986. Dr. White has never stopped learning and is constantly adding to his knowledge, reading journals, viewing webinars, and attending endless continuing education lectures. Some of these are given by organizations such as the Toronto Orthodontic Club, the Ontario and the Canadian Association of Orthodontists, and the American Association of Orthodontists, to name a few. Dr. White also teaches dentists studying to be orthodontists in the Graduate Orthodontic Program at Western University, where he serves as adjunct clinical professor in dentistry at the Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry. With his focus on continuing education, he stays up to date with the latest advances in evidence-based orthodontic treatment and appliance therapy, to provide the best and most effective orthodontic treatment for his patients.

Dr. White and his wife, Kathy, have lived in and around Guelph for more than 35 years. They have two children, Katherine and Sean, and two dogs, Miles and Violet. Katherine has an MSc degree in astrophysics and works with computers. Their son, Sean, is married to Shruti, and they are both dentists. They have two daughters, named Sonia and Sariya. Sean joined his father’s practice upon finishing his residency. In his free time, Dr. White works outdoors on his rural property and likes riding his bike. In winter, he still likes to get outdoors and later sit by the fire in the evening. On holidays, he enjoys swimming, sailing, and relaxing with a book by the dock.

Meet Dr. Stephanie Mai

Since discovering her passion for orthodontics while witnessing her own smile transformation as an adult in braces, Dr. Stephanie Mai enjoys merging art and science to provide individualized care for her patients in the most inclusive and friendly environment possible.

A graduate of the University of Montreal, Dr. Mai completed her Doctorate of Dental Medicine with honours in 2007. She pursued a multi-disciplinary residency in advanced education in general dentistry at the University of Rochester, New York. After practicing as a general dentist in Waterloo, Ontario, and conducting research at the University of Toronto on FGFR2 gene mutations involved in craniosynostotic syndromes, Dr. Mai returned to the University of Montreal to complete her three-year orthodontic specialty program in 2010. Her master’s on bracket bond strength was presented at the American Association of Orthodontists and the Canadian Association of Orthodontists in 2013. Dr. Mai first practiced as an orthodontic associate in Kitchener-Waterloo, then joined Dr. White’s practice in 2021. As an active fellow of the Royal College of Dentists of Canada and a member of professional associations, Dr. Mai has the knowledge and tools to provide the best care for families that come to the office.

Dr. Mai grew up in Montreal and is fluent in English, Vietnamese, and French (in which she completed her master’s in orthodontics!). She is an explorer at heart and loves to discover locally or globally with her husband and two children. Dr. Mai volunteers her time towards the enhancement of her children’s schools as an active member of the parent board committee to prepare the students for success. She also hopes to complete more dental humanitarian missions in the future; her time spent in rural Ecuador as a member of Dentists Without Borders was humbling and gratifying. “Au plaisir de travailler avec vous pour améliorer votre sourire et santé bucco-dentaire." – Dr. Mai

Meet Dr. Sean White

Sean White, BSc, MSc, DMD, MCID (Ortho) Sean completed the Graduate Orthodontic Program at Western University’s Schulich School of Medicine and Dentistry in 2024. Sean received his BSc and his MSc (molecular biology) from the University of Guelph. He received his DMD degree from The University of Sydney and during that time visited dental schools in Japan through a scholarship program. He then practised dentistry in Brantford, Ontario, for four years before returning to school to specialize in orthodontics. Sean also received the Dr. Douglas and Linda Beaton Award in Graduate Orthodontics at Western University. Sean and his wife, Shruti (also a dentist), live in Guelph and have two young daughters Sonia (four) and Sariya (one). Upon graduation, Sean joined his father's practice. Sean shares his fathers commitment and passion for orthodontics. They enjoy working together, discussing treatments and planning cases to achieve the best results for their patients.
